Summary and Description: The Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for developing and implementing NYAM's strategic marketing plan and public relations activities with a staff of four professionals and outside agencies, under the direction of the Vice President for Development and Communications.

Duties and Responsibilities:
•Develop and execute an annual strategic marketing and communications plan, including online communications, social media, and multimedia, for NYAM’s programs,
•Develop and implement consistent, effective strategies and practices that enhance the value of the NYAM brand among all internal and external audiences utilizing appropriate advertising, marketing, and communication tools. Maintain NYAM's branding and visual identify plan, with the help of two staff Designers and outside counsel, as required.
•Lead agency resources and internal team members to conceptualize, write, design, develop and execute all internal and external marketing and communication products, including: marketing collateral, merchandising, traditional and digital advertising, media planning and placement, donor and fellow communications, social media, newsletters, annual reports, direct mail, and public relations.
•Manage media relations and research editorial opportunities that build relationships with key industry outlets, including writing, pitching and distributing NYAM’s press releases.
•Showcase NYAM's "thought leadership" through placement of reports and commentary with NYAM bylines in trade media, including helping coaching staff to be recognized as "subject matter experts" or SME's; develop abstracts and pitch abstracts to the media.
•Supervise the Web Producer to maintain NYAM's website, intranet and other digital marketing efforts; supervise the Communications Writer position to oversee preparation of written materials in support of marketing, advertising and special event fundraising, including print, video and radio scripts and web page content and a wide range of other collateral material.
•Edit materials prior to submission that conform to NYAM's messaging guidelines and Communications Policy.
•Maintain communication intake request system and determines priorities in consultation with the Vice President.
•Collaborates with NYAM policy professionals and senior administrators to acquire information to be used in support of various marketing projects.
•Liaison to advertising agencies and other vendors to design and implement traditional and interactive marketing campaigns.
•Represent NYAM at community and business related events.
•Provide monthly reporting to the Vice President of Development and Communications, including but not limited to reporting on the status of prioritized marketing and communication activities.
•Manage the marketing and communications budget, and deliver all approved marketing activities on-time and on-budget.
•Manage all aspects of print material production, receipt and distribution.
•Contribute to the total effectiveness of the department, communicating openly, solving problems proactively, offering creative ideas and working as a positive, engaged team member.
•Performs other duties, as assigned.

7+ years of marketing experience
Experience managing both internal staff and external agencies
Experience crafting, measuring, reporting, and optimizing a marketing budget
A proven track record of conceiving and executing integrated campaigns with measurable results in driving traffic and sales to retail locations
Extensive experience in social media marketing
Bachelor's degree in marketing or related field

•Ability to think logically and analytically to solved complex problems; excellent organizational and time management skills; self-motivating, able to assume responsibility and work autonomously in a professional manner
•Familiar with marketing concepts, practices, and procedures, especially social media and website administration; html coding experience preferred
•Exceptional interpersonal ability, including ability to work across a variety of departments.
•Demonstrated understanding of public policy
•Excellent time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
•Ability to work independently and as part of a team, developing department goals and executing objectives
•Ability to handle multiple tasks, moving quickly and effectively between competing goals
•Exceptional decision-making skills, demonstrating a high level of judgment
•Proficiency in Microsoft Office
