General responsibilities include:

-Overseeing and executing publicity strategy for the venue
-Writing and sending both general and genre-specific press releases to NYC and national press agents on daily, weekly and monthly schedules
-Pitching shows to mainstream media and publications for previews and reviews
-Arranging press tickets and ticket giveaways
-Maintaining archive of all Joe’s Pub related stories, reviews, previews, photos and videos
-Initiating communication with press agents, managers and artists to assist with their press efforts
-Assisting Marketing Manager in the execution of Marketing campaigns through advertising, web content, email & direct marketing and sponsorship with outside institutions
-Managing relationships with the press through direct contact at shows
-Adapting our strategies and campaigns to changing press markets
-Creating promotional strategies for Joe’s Pub within the framework of The Public Theater
-Working with Public Theater director of Communications to craft releases around institution-wide initiatives
-Managing design and printing of monthly calendar
-Maintaining all social media outlets including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Tumblr

Ideal candidate will have the following skills, experiences and qualities:

-3+ years press experience
-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Working knowledge of New York City music/arts scene and press outlets
-Already has/is willing to develop relationships with members of the media
-Highly organized and detail oriented
-Light graphic design and artistic eye for creating promotional materials as well as overseeing the look and feel of all publicly viewable properties
-Self-motivated, creative, forward thinker open to creating new strategies to increase ticket sales and brand awareness
-Strong knowledge of social media platforms and ability to adjust to trends in the digital industry
-Must have a passion for the arts

Computer skills/programs:
-Microsoft Office Suite
-Basic HTML
-Blogging platforms (WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr)
-Social networking platforms
-Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
