Future US, Inc. is seeking an Online Editor for Mac|Life. This person will be responsible for maintaining the Mac|Life website’s daily publishing schedule, and aggressively working toward website traffic growth. The Online Editor will write and edit original website content, manage a team of freelance contributors, and work with the print magazine editors on submissions they provide to the website.

Job Responsibilities:

•Generate and develop article ideas to be assigned to freelancers.
•Manage freelancers in the daily posting of news content, with specific targets for total posts per day.
•Edit, copy-edit, and proof all content posted on the website, rewriting content in the site’s voice and style when necessary.
•Write and edit all headlines for maximum click potential.
•Generate, develop, and write bylined feature articles and news content.
•Generate website art assets when necessary.
•Manage the flow of original web content posted by magazine staffers.
•Manage the independent contractor who enters repurposed magazine content into the CMS.
•Work with the Editor-in-Chief and Publisher in the exploration of new ideas and methods to grow website traffic.
•Aggressively promote the Mac|Life website content to partner sites, aggregation sites, and all other Apple/tech-focused websites.
•Manage and contribute to Mac|Life social media outlets, such as FaceBook and Twitter
•Master the CMS, and work with Internet Ops in all areas of website design and development.
•Work with the Publisher on the production/fulfillment of sponsored content.
•Regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in performing the creative and management aspects of the position.


Required Qualifications:

•Excellent organizational skills—effective management of freelance writers and the budget with which we pay them.
•Enthusiasm and a strong working knowledge of Apple products, trends, and issues.
•Excellent writing and editing skills.
•The ability to write headlines that drive click-through.
•A surprising, entertaining, web-culture-savvy writing voice.
•The ability to post content quickly and prolifically.
•A healthy appetite for change and innovation, and a high threshold for trial-and-error.
•Experience with online content management systems, or the ability to learn a CMS very quickly.
•BA or BS degree preferred.
•Previous editorial experience in tech, gaming, music, or actions sports.
