Silver Dolphin is seeking an Editorial Assistant to join a growing team dedicated to producing innovative novelty and educational titles for children ages 2-12. Daily responsibilities range from copywriting and editing to departmental communication and administrative support. The ideal candidate would be able to efficiently manage a diverse set of responsibilities and would be a motivated and enthusiastic individual who is interested in participating in all aspects of book publishing. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The following statements describe the general nature of work being performed in this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management):•Execute copywriting assignments as needed, ranging from book content and glossary creation to back cover copy•Proofread, copyedit, and fact-check bi-yearly catalogs, marketing materials, and book content•Communicate with the editorial and marketing departments to compile accurate title specifications, rights, and author and illustrator biographies •Manage author, illustrator, designer, and rights agent correspondence •Communicate with vendors, and internal and external sales teams•Responsible for managing input of catalog materials by key dates•Create Power Point presentations for sales reviews and assist in writing sales copy•Collaborate with team members in idea generation and project conceptualization •Assist in design-related tasks such as photo and illustration research•Execute administrative duties ranging from filing and updating information in our Title Management Database to assembling and mailing sales kits•Manage customer service inquiries and author and illustrator submissions•Compile daily app sales reportsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis position has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS•Possess a strong interest in children’s book publishing•Possess strong writing, copyediting, and proofreading skills•Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style•Enthusiastic and driven individual who is eager to learn •Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and work independently•Detail-oriented and accurate•Superior organizational skills•Ability to multi-task under pressure•Be a creative thinker who brings great ideas to the table•Strong teamwork skills•Excellent written and verbal communication skills•Motivated self-starter with ability to manage projects with a high level of independence•PC proficiency•High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, experience with Adobe Creative Suite a plus•Bachelor’s degree in English or communications preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands and fingers; must frequently reach with hands and arms, talk, and; and occasionally must lift/move up to 10 pounds.
