Sr. Manager/Manager, Research
MTV is seeking a Manager / Senior Manager, Creative Development Research. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Creative Development Research and work within a unit which brings audience input into our show development and re-development process.Responsibilities:-Use audience data and insights to keep MTV continuously informed about series performance -Lead qualitative and quantitative deep-dives into our existing franchises to keep them fresh and extend their lifecycle -Partner with Director to plan and implement pilot testing process including research design, survey review, and data analysis -Help build close, trusting, collaborative, creatively inspiring working relationships on a day-to-day basis with creative development staff in programming -Help inspire & guide concept generation by being the voice of our demo in the early stages of the creative development process – fostering radical audience intimacy, using a wide range of innovative research methodologies -Discover, monitor, analyze and interpret trends in the competitive landscape -Provide research and managerial support to MTV Strategic Insights and Research, give guidance to a small group of researchers and strategists and develop their talents as well as manage research vendor relationships Basic Qualifications:-5 years of hands-on work experience in TV research. -Adept at both qualitative and quantitative market research methodologies, a strong, inspiring storyteller -Must bring the ability to elevate research findings to strategic insights within the creative product development realm for TV -Must have proven record of developing an in-depth understanding of and fascination for a specific target group, including demographic and psychographic insights and the ability to advocate a target group’s perspective in an organization. Natural curiosity about people, motivations, behaviors, and how to extract that information from research tools -Ability to manage a Senior Analyst -Should have some experience using social media as a tool for scraping audience opinion and insights. -Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills required – ability to craft “story-telling” presentations and deliver key messages to the point -Bachelor’s degree required -Must have proven record of developing strong work relationships with creative staff and adding value to a creative development process Desired Qualifications:-Prior focus on MTV’s target demo, ranging from teens to twenty-something (‘Millennials’) preferred. -Past experience with Crimson Hexagon, Social Guide, Trendrr a plus. -Must be passionate about TV -Must have demonstrated ability to multi-task within a fast-paced, high-volume environment and have strong organizational and time-management skills -Strong business and personal ethics -Degree in research or social science-related field a plus -Proficient in Microsoft Powerpoint, Excel, and Word MTV is the world’s premier youth entertainment brand.
