The RealReal is seeking an experienced Public Relations professional specializing in fashion / culture to join our growing online luxury consignment company. The position will be based in our New York City office and will work closely with the team at our San Francisco headquarters reporting to the Senior Director of Marketing Communications in San Francisco.

The position will be responsible for strategizing, writing, and pitching story ideas to National fashion media and measurably increasing our National editorial coverage, brand awareness, speaker opportunities for execs, consignor base, and member sales.

Key Areas of Focus
oMedia Relations: National fashion; art; lifestyle (TV, digital, print)
oHeavy pitching and successful placement of stories Nationally
oSecuring regular speaking opportunities for executive team
oExecuting all elements of our sponsorships at high profile events throughout the year

The ideal candidate must have at least 8-10+ years fashion PR experience, existing relationships with producers, editors, and bloggers across all fashion media. The candidate must be a strategic thinker, a great story teller, and possess exemplary writing and pitch skills. They must be a strong communicator and have the ability to execute effective social media campaigns that support story angles. He/she must be a self-starter, ambitious, tenacious, and deadline driven. He/she should be able to easily identify compelling stories; craft strong pitches; and deliver them with confidence and conviction to producers, editors, reporters, and bloggers.
•Develop and execute PR strategies in fashion media that support core marketing communications objectives and brand awareness programs
•Develop targeted media lists and form appropriate relationships with press (both print and television); conduct personal outreach to industry press with company news as released
•Cultivate relationships with fashion influencers in fashions national and trade publications
•Collaborate with marketing communications team, social media, sales team, merchants, etc.. to develop synergies between groups to deliver consistent and compelling messages to the media
•Identify opportunities for exec team and secure speaking opportunities
•Develop and manage a social media strategy in support of your PR plan
•Manage the execution and measurement of social media success
•Achieve highest visibility for TRR in print, broadcast, TV, and online
•Develop a full range of written materials, including press releases, byline articles, agency correspondence, award applications, speaking applications, and reports
•Secure external writing and publishing opportunities
•Develop compelling story angles for press and award opportunities
•Proactively manage editorial calendars
•Analyze and measure results of PR programs and own accountability

•8-10+ years fashion media PR experience
•Degree in journalism, public relations, communications, or a related field
•Excellent story development, writing, and pitching skills
•Established relationships with fashion, consumer and entertainment media
•An aptitude for translating marketing messages and promotions into compelling stories
•Demonstrated success positioning brands and companies as leaders
•An existing and verifiable track record of high-profile story placements
•Computer proficiency in MS Office programs, social media, Cision or similar service, Fashion GPS
•A combination of agency and corporate experience a plus
