Managing Editor, Medical
Cambridge University Press, a leader in academic publishing, seeks a talented and dynamic Managing Editor to join the Journals department in our New York office. The candidate will hold primary responsibility for a high-quality society journal, while offering comprehensive support to external journal Editor-in-Chief, Editors, and Editorial Board and all internal Cambridge University Press operational groups. Potential candidate will collate manuscripts submissions, solicit potential contributors, and oversee peer-review submissions while offering copy suggestions for approval as needed. Candidate must be able to quantify essential experience in smoothly running a journals operation while ensuring accuracy and quality in the publishing process. Meeting project timelines and developing workflow processes are essential to this role.The ideal candidate should not only have the top-notch editorial skills required to produce a high-quality journal, but should also be able to work as part of an international team and be capable of managing their own workload. This position will have periodic travel to Journal-related conferences, including attendance at scientific conferences. Candidates will possess at least 5 years of relevant experience working as an Editor, mostly within the medical journals field, with AMA experience preferred. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred. Demonstrated copyediting, proofreading and project management skills, ideally gained in an STM medical environment. Superior organizational, time management, multitasking skills and ability to work independently.
