The VP, International Sales and Marketing will be responsible for both print and digital sales in international markets, generated by both domestic and internationally based retailers, agents and distributors. He/She will work closely and collaboratively with our Canadian sales team, our export sales staff based in the U.K., and Asia, and with our sister companies in Australia and South Africa. He/she will collaborate with our digital operations team and our ebook Channel marketing team to maximize our global distribution of e and p English language books. The VP will work directly with international key accounts, in conjunction with our export team, to establish marketing policies and to generate marketing ideas for both digital and physical books. He/She will look for new opportunities for our authors and books in overseas markets.
Major Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage international digital and print relationships directly and in conjunction with our worldwide group publishers with customers and distributors with the goal of increasing our sales.
• Work closely with our international partners to find market appropriate opportunities for our books and authors. Candidate will be responsible for seeking out new and non-traditional avenues of distribution for both print and digital content. Candidate will develop marketing plans for product by region and retailer and work on brand campaigns for key authors with international reach in conjunction with the U.S. Publisher
• Support and manage sales systems and logistics between Macmillan U.S. and sister companies. Create internal communications and reporting.
• Oversee international ebook pricing strategies working closely with our pricing analysts and digital ops team. Analyze what is working by customer, and country to help target our efforts in each market.

• Travel to international fairs and trade shows. .

Required Skills / Knowledge:

• Be adept at navigating a variety of corporate cultures and varying priorities.
• Requires strong negotiating skills
• Must have sufficient global knowledge to understand how cultural differences may come into play as well as currency differences
• Must be highly motivated and organized.
• Candidate will be proactive, able to initiate and implement programs
• Able to multi-task and prioritize, even while traveling.
• Must be analytical and able to understand and act on data compiled from multiple sources
• Must be a team-player

Experience Needed:

• Candidate will have experience in the digital marketplace, preferably with e-Books or other published content.
• Candidate will have sales and marketing experience and have been involved in international sales and/or marketing for a publisher or other manufacturer.
• Prior experience with a large trade publishing company is a plus. Minimum 10 years of experience required.

Educational Background Required:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in ___ or other related field or equivalent work experience.
