We are currently searching for a dynamic, motivated Editorial Director to oversee all of the company’s editorial functions—including content for educational products, catalogs, digital and print marketing, and more. In this position, you will oversee an editorial staff of 20+ writers, editors and proofreaders, collaborating with the department’s Operational Manager and team leads to implement policies and procedures. This leadership position requires a strong, firm personality with a flair for mentoring and advising team members, providing inspiration and course-correction, and creating an open forum in which team members can discuss thoughts and share ideas for departmental improvements. The successful candidate will also possess equally strong organizational skills for distributing the workload among team members and an ability to closely collaborate with outside departments—including Art, Research & Development, and Marketing—to ensure quality and make sure that all deadlines are met.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Foster a culture of editorial excellence, accountability and problem solving
Create, implement and optimize processes to enhance quality of editorial review and streamline the content creation process
Ensure that standards for reliable, accurate and quality content development are met
Manage processes and support the staff to achieve best-in-class editorial services, including copy editing, proofreading and fact-checking
Oversee editorial staff and manage the workload of writers, editors and proofreaders
Manage, guide and review material from initial submission through final approval
Manage and actively perform a full range of editorial services, ensuring consistency at all stages of content creation


5–10 years of experience in a managing editor role
Demonstrated editorial expertise and a track record of success
Excellent written and verbal communications skills and superb attention to detail
In-depth knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
