Quartz seeks a highly motivated, entrepreneurial professional to execute domestic and international events and conferences as part of its growing live events business. The ideal QuartzLIVE Event Manager will have 3-5 years previous event management experience, preferably in a high-velocity, bottom-line focused industry and with international and/or business media experience. An eye for detail in building events that reflect Quartz’s design sensibility is a key skill.

Responsibilities Include:
•Plan and execute events ranging in size from intimate dinners to large-scale, multi-day conferences, domestically and internationally
•Own the logistics and overall management for all assigned events as well as the related day-to-day communications with:
oEvent underwriters
oInternal executives and staff
oRelevant speakers and other program participants
oVendors and other external partners
•Develop and recruit program audiences to meet event specifications through detailed organizational research, overseeing of invitation deployment, and high-touch phone and email communication
•Meet or exceed budgetary goals through vendor contract negotiation and other creative cost efficacy measures

•Effective negotiation skills and the ability to understand and negotiate contracts
•Creativity – Quartz aspires to do programming with a differentiated look & feel that reflects the Quartz brand
•Entrepreneurial spirit, track record of initiative, and ownership of work
•True service ethic, spirit of generosity, and gracious sense of humor
•Highest proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, notably Microsoft Excel
•3-5 years of relevant experience
