• Handle end-to-end production and deployment of emails,
including planning, targeting, segmentation, set-up, HTML coding,
testing, deployment and campaign reporting

• Execute programs that grow the Simon & Schuster
database and engage, retain, and develop a relationship with consumers

• Identify and target consumer segments to optimize conversion

• Build and refine overarching email marketing strategy and manage the email campaign
process end-to-end, including planning, targeting, segmentation, set-up,
testing, execution, reporting and optimization

• Manage email calendar and work internally with multiple stakeholders to ensure
campaigns are tested, approved, and scheduled in a timely manner

• Help oversee QA and end-to-end testing (A/B, multivariate) for email creative,
subject lines, data/time, list segments, etc.

• Have thorough understanding of email performance metrics and benchmarks, helping
drive and optimize key traffic and revenue metrics including deliverability,
CTR, open rates, incremental revenue lift, engagement and retention—and
generate reports on these metrics

• Stay current on email best practices surrounding performance, deliverability, mobile
adoption, social media, etc., and share learning with the entire marketing team

Required Qualifications
3-5 years of hands-on experience managing email campaigns and delivery through one
of the major email service providers (experience with Responsys is beneficial
but not required)

• Proficiency in HTML coding (writing and editing) with basic understanding of CSS

• Familiarity with Dreamweaver and Adobe Photoshop

• General understanding of web analytics tools (Omniture, Google Analytics, etc.)

• Understanding of database logic with basic experience using SQL or Microsoft Access

• Solid understanding of online marketing and project management a plus

• Self-starter with strong communication skills that can multi-task and flourish in a
fast-paced environment
