ABRAMS seeks an experienced managing editor to manage a list of approximately 50+ titles per year, including calendars, paper products and illustrated books. This is an opportunity to help project manage the development of a newly launched product line! Individual will work with Editorial, Design and Production departments to create and track workable schedules that support Sales and Marketing deadlines and ensure timely delivery of titles; copyedit and proofread interiors, jacket copy and marketing materials; guide titles through the preproduction process; hire, manage and evaluate freelancers; utilize a title management system to track and maintain book data and schedules; track title-related materials for Sales and marketing use; work on seasonal catalogs.

Qualifications include a bachelor's degree; 5+ years' experience as a managing editor or production editor in the book industry, preferably for a illustrated-book publisher -- specific experience related to illustrated books and ancillary products preferred; expert-level copyediting (on hard copy and electronically) and proofreading; thorough command of the Chicago Manual of Style; experience hiring and managing freelancers; proven ability to create and manage schedules; proven ability to track multiple projects and meet dates in a deadline-driven environment. We are seeking someone with the ability to work collaboratively and diplomatically across departments with strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a passion for all things related to paper, packaging and product design!
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Acrobat pro.
