Garland Science, a Taylor & Francis imprint based in the NY office, is seeking an Editorial Assistant to join our team. This position will provide editorial support and assistance for, multimedia, website, and print textbook development. The job may also include administrative, customer support, and personal assisting tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
In consultation with Development Editor and Director of Digital Publishing:

Website Projects:
•Respond to all customer service requests for website issues
•Assist in the creation of specifications for web development projects.
•Communicate with IT on key issues and create tickets for specific tasks; help manage and maintain the web ticketing system
•Thoroughly test projects as needed on multiple platforms and browsers.
•Assist in the creation of XML as needed for the website
•Assist other members of the Garland Science team in the management of the website through detailed knowledge of the CMS.
•Create visual mock-ups for web development for proof-of-concept and vendor communication.
•Edit HTML templates for rebranding of websites on new editions.

Multimedia Projects:
•Respond to all customer service requests for multi-media
•Support development of movie content: organize materials for authors and editors; review of storyboards; gather and deliver files to vendors; fine tune drafts of movies; provide detailed feedback for editors and authors; collate comments for vendors.
•Edit video as needed; create credits; and output source movies in required formats and sizes.
•Support development of media-rich eBooks: assist in scoping of content; deliver files to vendors; review and proof drafts of books; collate comments for vendors.
•Media Research

Print Book Projects:
•Administer reviews to authors and commissioning editors.
•Draw up and send out author and contributor contracts.
•Project manage books under contract and progress chasing on typescripts due for delivery.
•Prepare typescripts for handover to production.
•Maintain book information databases.
•Clear and check permissions.
•Picture research for illustrations and covers.
•General correspondence and filing.
•Send out complimentary copies
•Respond to author request

Good knowledge of Microsoft Office and Adobe PhotoShop required. Some experience with video editing software preferred.

Educated to degree level in a biology or science subject area.
