Evening Video Production Assistant

PBS NewsHour is seeking a production assistant to help with the evening video production of the PBS NewsHour's website, video shooting and editing of daily news content. Candidates should be detail-oriented, have experience shooting and cutting digital video, exhibit solid news judgment, and have availability to work evening shifts. In addition to nightly production, the PA will work on a regular shooting rotation for a variety of video projects—including shooting interviews, cutting raw news video and working on original videos stories—as assigned. The PA will also contribute to the PBS NewsHour’s Rundown news blog on a regular basis.

Candidates should have excellent writing, shooting and editing skills, and experience or education in journalism.

Duties include:
•Encoding and editing segments of the PBS NewsHour in Final Cut Pro
•Posting video to the PBS video player, YouTube and other platforms as assigned
•Digitizing and posting audio podcasts of the nightly NewsHour broadcast
•Posting raw news video; editing extended interviews and other video projects as assigned

Final Cut Pro experience required. Camera skills are a big plus. Web production and video encoding skills desired.

This position is located in Arlington, Va., and will have work hours of 2-10pm or as assigned by the Managing Editor, Digital News.
