Northstar is currently seeking a Group Design Director for our Travel Group brands. This position is located in our Secaucus, NJ office, just one train stop from NYC’s Penn Station.

The Group Design Director manages the workflow for design and brings fresh and focused ideas for translating marketing messages and custom publishing concepts into visually striking formats. This position leads a team and will touch a wide variety of marketing and editorial content, from online advertising and marketing pieces, to PowerPoint templates, e-newsletters, white papers and specialized print publications. The position requires a keen understanding of how to communicate through design and the ability to execute efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
•Manage at least 6 distinct corporate identities with branding consistency through a strong sense of concept development, layout composition, color theory and typography
•Create or redesign branding essentials such as logos, website banners, other multimedia materials, e-newsletters as well as additional ad hoc designs for custom content pieces – either based on client branding or by bringing fresh design concepts to the table for collaboration with editors, marketers and publishers
•Develop HTML, InDesign, PowerPoint and other types of design templates that are simple for sales and marketing colleagues to utilize for promotion purposes
•Work with the Marketing, Custom Content Director, Events VP and other business owners on project requirements, timelines, mockups and functional designs
•Manage workflow, projects and deadlines

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
•5+ Years working with print publications and/or advertising
•5+ Years of digital media experience, working with editorial and marketing content for web and other communications vehicles (e-newsletters, eblasts, etc.)
•BS/BA degree in graphic design, marketing or a related field
•Thoroughly understand trends within print and web design communities, and specifically, stay current on trends impacting CSS, XML, HTML, platform/browser specifications and graphic design tools
•Superb grasp of relevant software applications, such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, PowerPoint, etc., and all online production techniques
•Ability to follow existing style guidelines and contribute to the creation of new branding campaigns
•Strong management experience with the ability to lead a team, implement and manage an efficient workflow with a strong orientation toward top notch results
•Expertise in print and digital production processes
•Excellent organizational and time management skills and strong attention to detail
