Producer, Daily Mike Pesca Podcast., a leader in podcasting since 2005, will soon be launching a first-of-its-kind daily news and opinion podcast hosted by Mike Pesca. We re looking for an experienced, New York City-based audio producer who will work with Mike and executive producer Andy Bowers to create this program from the ground up. We want someone who can sort through the torrents of information passing before our eyes each day, and choose the two or three stories people will be talking about that evening and that require a closer look. We also want someone who can confidently define the stories and frame the arguments that people should be talking about. We want a producer who knows the rules of professional radio, and knows when those rules need to be tweaked or even scrapped entirely. We re looking for a person who will help create a show they themselves would love to hear every night, not that they think some mythical average listener? might like. We want someone who enjoys experimentation, who?'s not afraid to fail, and yet who mostly succeeds. This is a full-time 6 month contract position.

Essential duties include:

* Generate ideas for one-three stories and guests per day, and book those guests.
* Engineer recording sessions with the host and guests. Includes ability to set up remote connections.
* Edit recordings and produce professional quality audio podcasts.
* Post podcasts, show pages, and social media updates online.
* Appear on podcast as needed.
* Engineer/produce other Slate podcasts as needed.

Education: BA or equivalent

Required Skills: Five years professional audio production experience, preferably in a journalistic environment; excellent audio editing and production skills; mastery of professional audio editing software such as Adobe Audition, Hindenburg Pro, or ProTools

Bonus Points:

Experience creating, producing, and/or hosting podcasts; experience working in public radio organization such as NPR, APM, PRI, or a member station; experience in a professional online news gathering organization.
