The Live TV Programming Department Video Producer is responsible for producing content for The Weather Channel, and is directly involved in researching and writing as well as editing content and video. The Video Producer supports a variety of production needs at the network in addition to content (story) creation. The Video Producer will oversee projects and manage teams to achieve these production goals. The Video Producer will edit day-to-day content as well as future projects, and will be responsible for gathering and finding story information and video assets relating to the projects.

Specific Responsibilities

- Edit news packages, soundbites and VOs for show
- Research, write, produce and edit stories (news packages)
- Search video sources for appropriate user generated content
- May be assigned to special projects which require a specific focus and additional resources
- Book and conduct interviews with sources and guests
- Be familiar with, and capable of, shooting video as required
- Manage/coordinate field crews, studio crews, editors, and production teams as required

Experience Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years experience in a newsroom and/or production environment
- Strong editorial judgment
- Understanding of video production formats
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to work as a self-starter with minimal supervision

Knowledge / Skill Requirements
- Strong work ethic
- Ability to make quick decisions under pressure
- Capability of managing multiple tasks simultaneously and pay close attention to detail
- Strong broadcast writing and storytelling ability
- Proficiency in editing news and related content on Final Cut Pro or similar applications
- Ability to generate story ideas and produce segments from conception to completion
- Ability to organize work and prioritize independently
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Familiarity with newsroom and office computer systems and programs
