We are seeking a producer to join Scholastic Education’s Technology Product Development team. The producer will partner with several cross-functional teams including design, marketing, editorial, and engineering. Working closely with and reporting to the Senior Producer of READ 180, the producer will manage schedules, problem solve issues, and keep operations organized and moving forward to create life-changing educational software.

This position requires broad content and project management experience as a producer for web-based software. The ideal candidate will be energetic, motivated, and sharp. Our offices are convenient to public transportation and located in one of Manhattan's most vibrant neighborhoods.

Responsibilities

•Gathers, synthesizes, and documents requirements from numerous product stakeholders
•Understands the purpose and motivation for requirements, and uses this information to inform discussions
•Tracks development schedule for product components
•Reports status and potential risks to Sr. Producer
•Builds an in depth knowledge of the product and its role in the larger Scholastic suite
•Writes user stories, plans iterations, prioritizes backlog
•Runs meetings efficiently, identifying concrete next steps and owners
•Ability to travel domestically

Required Qualifications

•5+ years’ experience in software product development preferably in Education Technology
•Bachelor’s Degree
•Prior experience with software development and project management preferred
•Brief and precise writing style
•Can absorb information from unfamiliar fields and quickly understand and communicate the essential points
•Able to form close working relationships with remote teams
•Strong problem solving skills; suggests solutions when reporting an obstacle
•Practical understanding of teaching and learning, educational trends and reading research within US school/district contexts
•Ability to travel domestically (most especially between NYC and Boston)

Desired Qualifications

•Knowledge of Reading curriculum development highly desired
•Experience with web-based software development
•UI/UX experience a strong plus
•Knowledge of software programming
