FOOD & WINE is currently seeking a highly organized, energetic Editorial Production Assistant to aid in the hands-on execution of monthly print and digital editions of the brand, as well as cookbooks and other products as needed. This is a full-time, staff position in New York City.

- Facilitate Design Department workflow by creating image logs, updating design wall, executing design changes and building templated layouts as needed
- Collect and perform cursory markup of high-res photography; send, receive and track files to/from Photo Department and prepress vendor
- Flow copy and adapt graphic elements from print to digital editions with visual/typographic sensitivity and total accuracy
- Assign interactivity and functionality in digital editions using Woodwing/Content Station and Adobe Digital Publishing Suite tools; perform QA and input changes in digital editions
- Create and apply style sheets; tighten layouts; kern and rag text
- Route and track digital files and page proofs; prepare production-ready print and digital assets

The ideal candidate will have:
- Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Bridge and Microsoft Office (essential)
- Editorial production experience in Woodwing/Adobe DPS and/or photo retouching abilities (not required, but applicants with these skills will be strongly favored)
- Solid previous experience in the Art and/or Production Dept at a national consumer magazine (internships acceptable)
- A degree in Communication Design, Design/Technology, Media or related field with strong visual detail, user experience, color and typographic sensibilities
- Strong technical curiosity and the ability to learn new digital skills quickly and on the fly
- Ability to maintain composure and excel in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to prioritize while juggling multiple projects and meet tight deadlines
- Interest in food and wine; design and style; typography; photography; user experience and evolving digital production processes are strong pluses
