Manager, User Analytics
The Role: Candidate will play a central role in enhancing our understanding of user behaviors on the Roku platform, with a focus on content consumption. Candidate must be savvy in databases and audience analytics tools, but also have a research mindset. Able to chase down big questions posed by the team, as well as pose the big questions. Must have a background in analyzing the performance of apps. Must be familiar with commercial tools for this analysis. Individual contributor role on consulting basis to start, with opportunity to convert to full-time in early 2014. Reports to VP of Business Development, Content & Services. Preferably in NYC, but would consider SF and LA. Several trips to SF required during ramp-up.Responsibilities: •Overall objectives •Enhance our understanding of usage and behaviors on the Roku platform •Identify and analyze key behavioral cohorts •Enhance our ability to evaluate the performance of individual partner apps •Technical objectives •Learn our data collection and warehouse strategy today •Write repeatable, extensible queries against current warehouse •Partner with engineering and IT on the development of these new analyses •Develop an audience analytics roadmap •Study and formalize the product requirements we’ve generated so far •Define key new capabilities to be built (priority, proposed timing, complexity) •Evaluate use of in-house vs. commercial off the shelf tools •Evaluate use of 3rd party data sets •Scope resource requirements •Support our content acquisition, content promotion and advertising efforts •Develop models for the potential audience of new partners •Evaluate the potential impact of the promotional campaigns we run •Develop case studies Experience & Qualifications: •5+ years in audience analysis. •Preferably an engineering or comp sci background or equivalent experience. •Understands DB architectures; able to write own SQL queries. •Familiar with Microsoft SQL Server and Analysis Services ideal. •Experience analyzing the performance of apps on platforms like iOS, Android. •Experience with TV and video audience analyses ideal. •Familiar with commercial analytics packages (e.g. Omniture, GA, Conviva, Flurry, etc.). •Experience writing product requirements. •Good communicator able to work well in geo-distributed, cross-functional organization. •Experience in audience/user acquisition efforts and gauging the ROI of these efforts.Please apply at the link.
