Special Assistant, Office of the Provost
Position Summary: Provide confidential support for the Office of the Provost including conducting research, and synthesizing and summarizing information to facilitate communication. Establish protocols for appointment and meeting scheduling including administering arrangements for working groups and standing committees. Plan and execute meetings/events to ensure guests and NYU and external constituents have the resources necessary to accomplish meeting goals and objectives. Oversee design and update the Office of the Provost web-site, confidential files and records. Compose communications i.e., research and draft speeches, remarks, briefings and reports as needed for meetings with senior administrators, deans, faculty and trustees. Initiate, plan, and manage special projects and special events for the Provost, including a series of dinners and lectures.
Qualifications/Required Education: Bachelor's degree and
Required Experience: 5 years' relevant experience assisting a chief executive or senior officer, preferably in an academic environment. Must include experience in drafting correspondence, researching and drafting speeches and other highly visible communications, planning and implementing special events and activities, working in a complicated environment with multiple colleagues and constituents
Preferred Experience: Experience with web content management, writing and editing for the web.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlines while maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail. Requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills; strong research and writing skills, research; ability to effectively communicate sensitive information verbally and in writing to a diverse population. Good judgment, discretion, and ability to maintain confidences are essential. Requires strong proficiency with word processing, power point, spread sheet applications, and internet research and familiarity with web design.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of content management systems and web site management.
