Staff Photographer / Photo Editor
Job Description: Today Media is seeking an experienced, professional photographer for Westchester Magazine and its three ancillary publications (Westchester Home, 914INC., and Westchester/Hudson Valley Weddings) to be a staff photographer/photo editor. Working with the magazines' Creative Directors and Art Assistant, this position is responsible for the timely and proper creation, acquisition, collection, and management of visual content for our publications.Primary responsibilities:•Photograph people and products in our photo studio, and people, events, and places out in the field, as needed•Schedule and coordinate photo shoots outsourced to our freelance photographers for niche assignments (i.e. fashion, food, cover stories, etc.)•Source and acquire existing art from external sources (people, local businesses, product manufacturers, historical societies, et al). •Assist with photo formatting (e.g., silhouetting, shadowing, extending, resizing, etc.), and saving finals for production, and collection of proper photo credits•Assist the creative directors and art department, as needed (e.g. archiving digital files).Job Requirements:•Bachelor's degree in photography, fine arts, or graphic design•Talent and skill as a professional "generalist" photographer with consumer magazine sensibilities (magazine experience a huge plus)•A discerning eye for identifying and collecting appropriate, quality images from external sources•Strong communication and organizational skills, with a professional demeanor and polished telephone manner•Proficiency with Photoshop/InDesign/Adobe Creative Cloud (formerly Creative Suite), Microsoft Word•Adept at working both independently and collaboratively as part of a hard-working, convivial creative team.Please send cover letter (with salary requirements), resume, and links to relevant photo samples/portfolio.
