Position Summary:
The Editor and Communications Associate (ECA) plays a key editorial and promotional role in the communications department. The ECA oversees online and print communications for PRRI, and is responsible for writing a daily news round-up, timely articles for the blog, newsletters, press releases, website copy, and various other forms of on-brand communications. Additionally, the ECA will assist with editing research reports, scholarly articles, and other written content. The ECA works with the Communications Director to develop integrated media strategies, and is responsible for disseminating and promoting PRRI products and content on social media to ensure high visibility. The ECA reports to the Communications Director

Responsibilities:
•Serve as editor and writer for PRRI publications, including the website, PRRI’s daily religion and politics news roundup, timely articles for the blog, weekly newsletters, press releases, and other writing tasks as assigned
•Develop and implement strategies to promote PRRI content on social media including Facebook, Twitter, and other platforms
•Provide editorial assistance with major research reports, scholarly articles and books, grant proposals, and articles from PRRI research staff and affiliated scholars
•Assist CEO with writing op-eds and columns
•Manage communications interns

Qualifications:
•Minimum of five years of experience as writer or editor, or in public relations or communications
•B.A. in journalism, communications, English or a related field
•Outstanding writing and communication skills
•Strong knowledge of print, broadcast and online media
•Experience developing and implementing organization-wide social media strategies
•Experience managing multiple, complex projects under tight deadlines
•Excellent organizational/administrative skills and attention to detail
•Interest in religion, politics, and public opinion research strongly preferred
•Experience with print layout using InDesign a plus
•Grant-writing experience a plus
