Duties and Responsibilities:

Media
-Assists in responding to media, keeps accurate records of all information
-Produces content for the Embassy’s website and updates the website
-Monitors the U.S. media and circulates press coverage
-Assists in the planning and implementation of media events
-Maintains media database

Communications
-Uses and monitors social media
-Assists in the production of the Embassy of Switzerland’s newsletter and events calendar and print materials and manages subscribers database for newsletter and events calendar
-Maintains a photo library
-Ensures consistent branding and visual image of communications products by following the CI/DC Bund (CI/CD rules of the Swiss federal government) and acts as a liaison with competent offices in Bern
-Writes copy for a variety of uses, including press releases, newsletter, social media, reports, project proposals
-Provides quality control on documents with respect to use of language, terminology and design
-Uses graphic design programs to assist other sections in creating cards and flyers

Administration
-Provides administrative support to the Head of Communications
-Oversees and maintains newspapers and magazines in the Embassy of Switzerland’s reading room and waiting room area. Manages subscriptions for all newspapers and magazines.

Requirements:
-College or university degree in communications, media relations or a related field
-At least two years of relevant work experience
-Strong writing and computer skills; excellent spelling and grammar, attention to detail, creative mind, good telephone manner, willingness to learn
-Experience in web content management and social media management
-Knowledge of CI/CD and experience working with graphic design programs
-Fluency in English
-Fluency in German OR French
-Knowledge of Switzerland
-Proven ability to multi-task, take initiative and work as a team player
-Be well organized, reliable and responsible, self-motivated, tactful, and have the ability to plan ahead and prioritize
-Ability to work under pressure and with short deadlines, occasional work on weekends and evenings
-Service-oriented way of approaching tasks, aptitude for politics and diplomacy
-Valid work permit; no visa support will be provided
-Valid Driver’s License
-Must live in the Washington DC area and have knowledge of the area’s communication industry as well
