The SHOPS project is currently seeking a Communications Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will aid in the implementation of the project's communications strategies by creating and curating content for the project website. Recognized for its innovative private sector approach and strong research program, SHOPS is USAID’s flagship initiative in private sector health. Responsibilities The Communications Specialist will aid in the implementation of the project's communications strategies by writing and proofing stories for the project website. Responsibilities include: Write stories for the website on implementation, milestones, and successes;Identify story leads, follow up with project staff, compile necessary information and assist in the selection of photos;Assist in the management of events, including negotiation with vendors; logistics coordination; and preparation of event materials;Coordinate the development and distribution of the e-newsletter and e-mail blasts;Track and analyze metrics to improve communication and dissemination efforts;Enhance website with dynamic, relevant content;Proofread and edit communications materials to ensure currency, accuracy, and adherence to project and client style;May assist in planning and coordinating conference activities for the project and/or across the company;May, depending on applicant’s skill set, create additional types of content such as podcasts, videos, and infographics. Skills Prerequisites Strong verbal & written communication skills.Demonstrated experience in the development of editorial content, including editing, proofreading, and quality assurance;Excellent understanding of best practices in web writing, usability, and design;Familiarity with site development, user-centered design principles, or user experience (UX) best practices are preferred. Minimum QualificationsBA with 3 – 5 years of experience OR MA/MBA (Entry Level) OR the equivalent combination of education and experience.
