Open Road Integrated Media seeks an intern to work 15 to 20 hours per week beginning this summer in its publishing operations department.

The managing editorial intern will assist the associate managing editor in a number of tasks related to ebook and POD production.

Primary Responsibilities

•Perform quality assurance of Open Road titles on major reading devices (iPad, Kindle, Nook, and others)
•Compile and communicate revisions to the design department and the conversion house
•Prep hard copy books for digitization
•Copyedit, fact-check, and proofread marketing materials (descriptive copy, author bios, praise quotations, etc.)
•Proofread POD interiors and cover mechanicals
•Check current Open Road titles on Apple, Amazon, and other major etailers to ensure they are active and display the correct metadata


•Superior eye for detail
•Ability to juggle multiple and varied tasks
•Ability to work independently and responsibly
•Excellent understanding of English-language mechanics
•Strong knowledge of copyediting and proofreading practice
•Familiarity with The Chicago Manual of Style, 16th ed., and Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary, 11th ed.
•Comfort using the track changes function in Microsoft Word
•Demonstrated interest in managing editorial and next-generation publishing
