Regulatory Compliance Engineer

We’re looking for a Compliance Engineer to ensure that products are compliant with the published required regulations. If you have an understanding of the purpose, requirements, and trends of product safety regulations, and administers compliance and certificate programs for current and future products, this is your chance to be a part of the Next Industrial Revolution with MakerBot.

As Compliance Engineer, you will:
Assist in domestic and foreign compliance and certification programs for both current and future products, working with certifying agencies to ensure product certification is achieved in a timely basis & maintained without issue
Coordinate and participate with NPD teams on design for compliance to safety standards in creating product model construction, charts, critical components lists and acts as a technical liaison and consultant
Coordinate and participate with NPD teams on risk management activities for compliance relative to safety standards
Conduct required product model compliance testing activities as specified by applicable compliance standards
Conduct audits as required throughout the life of a device to ensure hazard mitigation and safety compliance is maintained
Procure, setup and test samples for applicable certifications
Generate/gather necessary documentation to support certifications and submit to the certifying laboratory/organization
Support external testing to meet relevant certifications
Perform product reviews and respond to inquiries with regard to part compliance
Maintain Agency files for factory/product inspection
Facilitate Agency factory/product inspections
Evaluate regulatory trends and revisions, working with functional departments to react to upcoming changes without interruption to certifications
Manage substance data information in the substance database which help managing substance information so that product designers can select parts compliant to Restrictions of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directives, Registration, Evaluation, and Authorization of Chemicals (REACH), and many other global environmental regulations

To be considered for the Compliance Engineer position, you need:
Bachelors degree in Engineering and three or more years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Familiarity with UL, CE, RoHs, NEC, ETL, TUV
Prior experience with Safety and EMC testing and protocols
Prior experience within Consumer Electronic Company and familiar with parts from CE products
Strong written and verbal English language communications skills. Strong ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships on a multi-level basis
Ability to present technical information and effectively communicate within all levels of the organization around
Experience with appliance, automotive or electromechanical device manufacturing a plus
Change agent with energy, passion, and enthusiasm to drive change
External Focus: Understanding customer needs, industry trends, and the competitive landscape in the industry.
Ability to simplify strategy into specific actions with clear accountability, making decisions with speed & accuracy based on best available information and communicating priorities clearly & concisely.
