Participate in the planning, coordination and execution of internal and external communications plans. Manage and coordinate earned-media communications tactics, as part of the overall strategic communications plan, with a focus on supporting The Weather Company digital, television and ad sales divisions. Also work on PR efforts for international and affiliate sales, as well as internal communications.

External Communications
•Develop and help implement strategic media relations plans to significantly increase The Weather Company brand
•Pitch digital properties, products, ad products and ad campaigns to media.
•Pitch TV content including original series and live programming as needed.
•Cultivate relationships with key journalists at national, local and trade outlets.
•Write, review and edit draft media pitches, cover letters, press releases and internal communication of company news and events.
•Proactively manage editorial calendars to identify opportunities to promote The Weather Company and its executives, content and talent.
•Write and submit The Weather Company campaigns, products, executives, etc. for relevant awards.
•Develop and execute plans for digital and ad industry events.
•Pitch executives for placement in media stories and speaking engagements.
•Develop content and execute updates to The Weather Company site, newsroom and intranet.
•Work with director to provide communications counsel to each division to promote frequent, open communications and incorporate employee communications considerations into planning of all business unit/departmental major initiatives, events and announcements.
•Utilize PR software to assemble media lists and manage press release distribution. g Information
•Respond to viewer emails and calls and alert internal departments as needed.

Internal Communications
•Plan company events. Work with director to provide guidance and counsel to senior leaders on the importance of strategic communications within their departments/business units to ensure ongoing employee engagement, retention and morale. Work with senior director to ensure that corporate business priorities are cascaded throughout business units/departments via existing channels. Coordinate internal communications with external messaging and strategies, as appropriate and necessary.

•Bachelor's Degree in communications, public relations, journalism or related field preferred.
•3 years PR experience, preferably in a corporate or PR agency setting.
•Experience in proactive and reactive media relationships.
•Experience owning projects.
•Ability to establish and maintain effective communication, in both written and spoken forms, with internal and external partners.
•Strong skills in listening, recalling information and following direction.
•Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
•Ability to deal with time sensitive and pressured situations.
•Ability to handle challenges and provide quality solutions within budget.
•Self starter who will proactively take on projects.
•Demonstrated familiarity and knowledge of online, social media and blogging community.
•Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.
•Knowledge of PR tools such as Cision, TV Eyes, Meltwater News Knowledge of Salesforce a plus.
•Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel, Internet Explorer, PowerPoint, SharePoint etc.
