W.W. Norton & Company is seeking candidates for the entry level position of College Permissions Assistant. Candidates must have strong communication and research skills, be very organized and detail oriented, and proficient at multitasking. The ability to prioritize, consistently meet deadlines, and work independently is also essential. The College Permissions Assistant will report to the College Permissions Manager, with additional supervision from the College Permissions Associate.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
•Requesting and obtaining permission for copyrighted material reused in Norton’s college textbooks (both in print and electronic format) and various media ancillary products.
•Negotiating fees and terms of permissions agreements with copyright holders of requested materials.
•Maintaining the College Permissions department’s tracking database with updated information on project status and contacts.
•Processing payment of permissions fees.
•Performing general administrative tasks, such as: filing, scanning, and archiving documents to maintain updated permissions files.
•Assisting the College Permissions Manager and College Permissions Associate with various projects as needed.

Required Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree
•Employment eligibility to work with W.W. Norton & Company in the US is required.
•Internship and/or employment experience in publishing is a plus, as well as knowledge of copyright law.
•Must be highly organized and detail-oriented.
•Must have excellent organizational and written communications skills.
•Must have good time management skills and be capable of multi-tasking across various projects.
•Must be self-motivated and able to work independently.

Technical Skills:
•Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe PDF.
