Senior Systems Engineer

Thanks for considering a career at MakerBot. Over the last five years, MakerBot has defined a new industry: desktop 3D printing. Now we’re on a mission to bring 3D printing and scanning to everyone.

Senior Systems Engineer needed to help develop next generation MakerBot products, improve our development process and manage our product lifecycle.The candidate in this position will help define and manage the development of future 3D printers and scanner. Candidate will work closely with engineering, software, operations, supply chain, quality and test teams to create a holistic design approach to high complexity consumer products. This role will help define and manage system requirements, build models of the system and exercise the models over the entire operational environment, facilitate the decomposition and allocation of requirements, and support the integration and test our final system. The goal will be to continue delivering these high quality systems on time, within budget, and meeting specifications.




As Senior Systems Engineer, you will:

•Manage and communicate requirements and specifications across teams, including up to the executive level
•Work closely with the Product Managers to implement policies across teams
•Develop and maintain best practices for program management and development teams
•Contribute to the mechanical, electrical, software and process engineering design cycle
•Help develop and refine MakerBot's program management processes
•Manage and mentor Project Managers and Junior Systems Engineers
•Create consistent systems for project documentation
•Track integration schedules across multiple teams
•Work with Quality and Test Engineer to ensure quality standards are met
•Work with product strategy to ensure customer needs and user experience requirements are clearly specified to developers


To be considered for the Senior Systems Engineer, you need:

•Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Computer, or Systems Engineering, or similar, MS preferred
•Proven, broad based system design experience
•Experience with system modeling and integration
•5+ years design experience in a corporate or consultant environment
•Program management experience
•Test and validation engineering experience
•Clear technical communication skills, including excellent technical writing skills

•Experience with ISO9001 or similar Quality Management Systems
•DOORS or similar
•Familiarity with QFD
•Personnel management experience
•Familiarity with 3D printing or MakerBot
•Solidworks or AutoCAD experience
•Personnel management experience
