Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

The job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

•Works with managing editor to produce, from idea development to editing, proofing and production - 44 CQ Researcher reports and 20 Hot Topics reports.
•Perform substantive, line and copy editing in a timely manner for CQ Researcher and Hot Topics reports.
•Complete administrative or other editorial tasks as assigned by the managing editor
•Assist in topic development for 44 CQ Researcher reports and 20 Hot Topics reports per year and suggest a minimum of 15 report topics per year
•Assist in and finding and managing writers for 44 CQ Researcher reports and 20 Hot Topics per year
•Assist in selecting appropriate charts and graphs for 44 CQ Researcher reports per year
•Aid in development of interactive graphic content for CQ Researcher reports
•Keep abreast of domestic and global news events

Qualifications & Education

Include, but not limited to, the following:

•Minimum of bachelor's degree in journalism or related field
•Minimum of five years of experience as a front-line substantive and copy editor of long-form journalistic articles
•Minimum of three years of experience managing the work of freelance journalists
•Excellent skills in grammar, punctuation
•Computer skills, with a proficiency in Microsoft Word, Lexis-Nexis, HTML, website updating, social media
•Thorough knowledge of AP style
•Familiarity with social media platforms, interactive graphic presentation
