Contractors will be required to research, write and produce original stories for broadcast as well as adapt other VOA copy in Learning English style -- a clear and succinct form of writing that uses a 1,500 word vocabulary, so English learners can easily understand news and other information about America and the world. Contractors also will post stories on our website and create dynamic, interactive lessons to help non-native English speakers learn the language through VOA content. Contractors will participate in special projects, including the creation and production of short English teaching videos, and connect with VOA audiences via Skype and Google Hangouts, and on social media. Flexibility in adapting to new technology and media Knowledge and skills in digital and traditional journalism to write, edit and produce news and features for publication on multiple platforms Familiarity with Web metrics and analytics software, with an eye toward using audience trends to inform editorial judgments The ability to read your stories on air and to present on television in Learning English style (about 2/3 normal pace) Contractors who possess journalism and teaching experience, or related education, will be rated higher as will those with ESL or EFL teaching experience.
