If so then we want to talk to you: IEEE Spectrum, the monthly, general-interest magazine of the IEEE, has an opening for a senior interactive editor in our midtown Manhattan office. This is a full-time position at a renowned publishing organization, with excellent benefits.

The Senior Interactive Editor at IEEE Spectrum works closely with the world’s leading technology writers, editors, and designers to research and develop new experiences for users across all IEEE Spectrum digital platforms. This includes exploring, developing and deploying innovative ways to present stories about technology to Spectrum's digital audiences as well as giving Spectrum’s editorial team the tools they need to tell those stories in the most engaging ways possible.

• Guide integration of new types of content and storytelling into existing editorial workflows.
• Create interactive elements and applications for Spectrum editorial content.
• Conduct R&D on new media forms, including applications, visualizations, maps, timelines, tools, databases, and games.
• Identify, evaluate and test new tools and digital platforms.
• Create high-level specifications for enhancements to the Web site, CMS and other existing digital platforms.
• Work with the Web development team to create and deploy new features.
• Work with development team to improve the UX/UI for all of Spectrum's digital properties.
• Manage collection and processing of analytics to guide editorial decision-making.

•Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Journalism, English, Communications, or related area. Master's degree preferred.
•At least 3 years’ experience in journalism, UX/UI design, and/or web development.
•Conversant in the latest trends in digital journalism, publishing, analytics, design, and UX/UI.
•Knowledge of how to structure content in all media for highest impact across different digital platforms.
•Ability to borrow, modify and enhance existing cutting-edge interactive storytelling techniques, as well as develop original ideas.
•Ability to create basic working prototypes.
•Fluency in industry standard Web technologies: HTML, CSS and Javascript.
•Sufficient fluency in leading content management systems to help improve them and develop new features.
•Knowledge of/experience with Java, Python, Processing, or related technologies preferred.
