Inside Higher Ed, a growing, thriving national daily online publication about the complex and compelling world of higher education, is seeking an enterprising reporter to cover student life and college sports issues. This job provides an opportunity to examine an enterprise under intense pressure, covering issues such as how well colleges are preparing graduates for work and life; sexual assault and racial tensions on campuses; and the growing debate over the appropriate role of college athletics, among other topics.

Our reporters mix beat reporting, analysis and creative approaches to telling stories. Candidates should be able to juggle multiple articles at once, and should like to dig deeply and to learn. Candidates should have at least two years of intensive reporting experience; a background covering higher education is a plus. Inside Higher Ed publishes breaking news, features, commentary, blogs and other content (including audio and video) each weekday, and has quickly established itself as a fresh, authoritative, independent voice for its 1.3 million unique monthly users and 100,000+ daily e-mail subscribers.

Inside Higher Ed offers competitive pay, good benefits (including heavily subsidized health, dental and life insurance premiums), and three weeks' vacation. Centrally located in downtown D.C. Interested applicants should send a cover letter, resume, and five strong clips to or by mail to:
