The Editorial Director is responsible for shaping the editorial voice and content schedule for the Celebrity and Music sections on VH1’s digital platforms. In addition to leading our editorial efforts, s/he will help develop original video content, consult on the creation of bonus show-based content created for the site, and advise on digital content programming.

S/he will work closely with the editorial, programming, and production teams on the linear side of VH1, as well as key stakeholders within the digital group to develop and execute strategies for content development and promotion. S/he will also source content from partners, outside content creators, VH1-related sites and fans. The Editorial Director will report to the Executive Producer, VH1 Digital.

The three key areas of focus for VH1’s Editorial Director are:

-Fine Tune the online vision and editorial voice of VH1 Celebrity and Music
-Grow traffic in the Celebrity and Music sections
-Provide creative leadership and participate in ideation across the VH1 organization and the Connected Content group

Key responsibilities:

-Focus the voice, vision, and implementation of editorial content across all VH1 digital platforms and consumer touchpoints, including web, mobile, tablet, and other connected devices
-Oversee all day-to-day editorial operations
-Manage the editorial calendar and freelance editorial budget
-Source and manage freelance editorial and content resources such as writers, editors and photographers
-Work closely with VH1 News to coordinate content strategy and rollout
-Source content from outside the VH1 universe that’s relevant to our audience
-Provide editorial leadership and work in collaboration with Production, Marketing, Social Media, PR, and SEO teams
-Arrange and run meetings to maintain consistent interdepartmental communication and editorial efficiencies
-Track and report performance of editorial content based on traffic, audience engagement and social media metrics

Basic Qualifications:

-6 to 8 years experience working in a dynamic, deadline and results-oriented environment
-Experience writing/editing pop-culture content
-Broad knowledge-base focused on entertainment and news media
-Proven ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines
-Demonstrated success and audience growth at a large website
-Excellent editorial skills such as brainstorming, scheduling, writing and editing
-Demonstrated editorial management skills, both staff and freelancers
-Excellent communication and collaboration skills
-Significant contacts in the digital editorial community
