YP is the new way to do! The mission of the YP PR team is to share growth and achievements with the media, industry analysts, investors and customers and to tell the YP story in a way that meaningfully expands the business.

The Role:

Working closely with senior YP executives from across the organization as well as with the Sales and Marketing team, the director is responsible for raising and enhancing the Company’s profile by driving specific media relations initiatives for business and trade media outlets, including the announcement of new product launches, insights, and mobile efforts. In addition, the role includes the securing of all appropriate external speaking opportunities for executives to further build awareness. Moreover, the director is responsible for overseeing the creation of original content and managing a PR agency.

Responsibilities:

MEDIA RELATIONS – GENERAL
• Press release drafting
• Media strategy – including pitching, media interviews, follow-up
• Internal communications initiatives related to specific announcements
• Press release distribution oversight

MEDIA RELATIONS – ANNOUNCEMENTS RELATING TO:
• New product launches
• Insights/Research
• Mobile initiatives

SPEAKING (EARNED/UNPAID & SPONSORED/PAID)
• Research potential speaking opportunities that align with corporate topics and themes as well as other corporate initiatives, including product launches
• Pitch conference organizers
• Evaluate speaking opportunities through post-event analysis to optimize success
• Manage third-party vendors, consultants/designers, and contractors, as necessary, to drive speaking initiatives
• Maintain unified (earned/unpaid or sponsored/paid), annual speaking calendar
• Speaker preparation

CONTENT CREATION
• Identify and evaluate new and innovative social media channels and opportunities
• Develop content for distribution through other channels, including Op-Eds
• Work with Marketing as appropriate to develop content for YP blogs


Requirements:

• At least 7-10 years of corporate communications/b2b/business experience, either in-house or agency, is required
• Deep relationships with technology, financial, advertising and mobile journalists.
• Extensive experience pitching and securing media coverage
• Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, including specific experience and expertise in the drafting of corporate press releases
• Proven history of managing speaking opportunities for senior executives
• Highly organized with experience managing multiple projects on tight deadlines and with great attention to detail
• Experience developing and managing a communications team
Strongly Desired:
• Experience in communications with in-house or at an agency working with ad exchanges, mobile advertising, ad networks, digital advertising agencies or ad servers
• B.A. or equivalent preferred with a strong academic record
