The Copywriter is responsible for the ongoing creation, refinement, consistency of
Cole Haan’s brand voice as communicated via written language across all channels.


- Creation, in partnership with Design and Marketing leadership, of all campaign and brand identity language, all retail merchandising messaging, all e commerce communications and all incidental copy needs, be they operational, instructional, or promotional in nature

- Creation and maintenance of comprehensive, accurate and engaging product descriptions, both consumer- and wholesale/partner-facing

- Auditing and editing of all existing product descriptions

- Entry of all product descriptions into Product Information system

- Editing and proofreading of all outgoing artwork and communications

- Ensures consistency of style, tone and quality of all outgoing language

- Research as necessary to support all communications activity

- Development and implementation of processes, standards and guidelines for ongoing copy development

- Refined understanding of the Cole Haan consumer, the fashion consumer and the modern e commerce consumer

- 5+ years as a Copywriter within a comparable design studio or creative agency. Retail/Fashion industry experience preferred

- 1 year minimum experience writing for ecommerce

- BA required, Creative Writing or English major preferred

- Excellent conceptual skill with sensitivity to graphic design and typography

- Expert editing and proofreading skills

- Excellent attention to detail and process

- Excellent organizational skills, both personal and departmental

- Excellent ability to multi-task, work efficiently under pressure and maintain deadlines

- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office and/or Apple iWork

- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus
