The Atlantic is looking for a highly motivated, entrepreneurial, service-minded professional to run its thriving events arm, AtlanticLIVE. AtlanticLIVE is responsible for dozens of events each year, ranging from tent-pole conferences such as the Aspen Ideas Festival, the Washington Ideas Forum, the New York Ideas Forum, and CityLab; to half-day summits; to smaller, more intimate conversations. This group is responsible for the full event cycle: sales and marketing, client management, content and speaker recruitment, audience development, and operations and logistics.

Responsibilities Include:

•Provide leadership to three department units: sales/marketing, content/programming, and operations/logistics.
•Build a large and profitable events business by creating products that appeal to both audiences and underwriters.
•Identify emerging event models, dynamic speakers, and innovative ways to include digital and print extensions into product line.
•Own the revenue pipeline and annual budgeting for AtlanticLIVE.
•Create long-term business plan that accounts for new events, staffing and operations needs, sales opportunities, and business development/partnerships.
•Cultivate strong relationships with senior client and business decision-makers on the sponsor side.
•Represent AtlanticLIVE in business and editorial communities.
•Serve as a key AtlanticLIVE liaison with internal Atlantic managers in sales, marketing, technology, editorial, human resources, and finance.

Qualifications of the Ideal Candidate:

•Entrepreneurial thinker with strategic vision and tactical rigor.
•Sales savvy to conceive and close a big deal combined with the editorial sensibility to create high-quality programming.
•Ability to forge strong relationships with clients and strategic partners, with a proven track record in sales and a relentless approach to business development.
•Polished presenter suited to be the public face of one of The Atlantic’s most high-profile and critical business divisions.
•Outstanding organizational skills, excellent time management and judgment, and the ability to manage complex operations in a fast-paced environment.
•Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage complex and fast-changing event programming elements.
•Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years previous management experience, preferably in a high-velocity, bottom-line focused industry.
