Cambridge University Press seeks a Global Retail Marketing Associate, History to join our Academic & Professional Marketing team. The Marketing Associate will be responsible for the execution of marketing activities for all textbooks, course books, and trade titles in History. This is a great opportunity for those with a passion for marketing and the academia world, and work for an established global organization with state-of-the-art offices conveniently located in Tribeca.

Principal responsibilities will include:

• Create individual global marketing plans for each book in History; distribute plans to Authors and Editors, while serving as primary marketing point of contact for given titles.
• Work with designers to produce advertising, direct mail, email campaigns, web assets, and other online promotions tied to the marketing plans.
• Deploy and track email campaigns and online promotions; maintain and regularly update subject-specific social media (Twitter) and web pages on the Cambridge site related to History, rotating featured titles and discount/cluster promotions.
• Plan and attend academic conferences in History, creating supporting materials, selling books to attendees, meeting with authors, and otherwise representing the company.
• Engage in contact list-building activities to grow internal database of potential book buyers.
• Present titles in assigned subjects to sales representatives, publicity colleagues, and other colleagues as needed.

Experience & Abilities:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in marketing, sales, publicity, or another related aspect of book publishing required.
• Excellent technical skills, including: Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows/Office Suite, Internet.
• Ability to multi-task with a clear understanding of deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and strong communication, both verbal and written.
• Strong working knowledge of publishing industry, preferably academic/professional.
• Strong proficiency with online media preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business, or related field is a plus.
