Responsible for supporting the Consumer Marketing Analysis & Operations Group in its efforts to manage, coordinate, quality control digital new product development, enhancements/refinements and related print projects and tests as well as new marketing and system opportunities. Act in a consultative role to support Marketing and Digital Media initiatives by working closely with them and outside vendors (including CDS), make recommendations, help define specifications, system and operational requirements, assess customer impact and potential reactions and work to minimize or prevent, interact closely with CDS and other vendors to ensure timely and accurate project completion and change implementation as well as correct handling of customer complaints and inquiries.


Project Management
•Identify opportunities, define, develop and manage various digital and other Consumer Marketing projects and initiatives. Act as a key advisor, collaborate on strategies and specifications, focus on improving the customer experience, processing efficiency and effectiveness, evaluate fulfillment cost impact as well as CDS Customer Service. Ensure Customer Service is kept up to date on all policy, offer and system changes and can handle resultant complaints. Evaluate how Hearst’s online Customer Care sites should be modified to include new initiatives, information, technical help, etc. Collaborate on the development of reporting platforms that support the needs of the operational business groups as well as senior management. Identify opportunities to improve ongoing business processes.
•Play an active role and consult with all associated outside vendors to ensure project requirements are communicated clearly and interpreted properly, and the vendors proceed on a timely basis and meet agreed upon due dates. Help resolve questions as they arise and provide needed documentation.
Quality Control
•Ensure specifications submitted to CDS and other vendors for existing or new projects are clear, comprehensive, flexible, logical and anticipate future growth and/or change in direction.
•Perform various quality control tests to validate accurate processing, accounting, reporting and efficient flow of transactions and data. Monitor resultant costs.
Ad Hoc and Miscellaneous Requests and Duties
•Act as a key liaison between various departments within Hearst and with outside vendors to handle ad hoc requests for information, problem resolution, research, data and statistical integrity issues, etc. Recommend any needed changes as a result of investigations. Handle miscellaneous duties as they arise.


The Senior Manager will utilize strong analytical, research, operational and project management skills to support the company’s consumer and online marketing initiatives and systems (as well as the finance area where appropriate). The ideal candidate should have experience with new product development and management of initiatives to support marketing and digital operations, business intelligence reporting systems, fulfillment solutions, product management, problem resolution, research and investigative skills and be adept at communicating internally and to outside vendors. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to interact with various departments within the organization as well as on the outside. The candidate must be able to work on high level macro projects and demonstrate a strategic perspective but also be able to focus on the intricate details and levels of systems and processing operations. This individual should be a driven, self-starter, capable of multi-tasking and shifting priorities easily.

•BA/BS required.
•Minimum 5 years work experience in the publishing industry, preferably Consumer Marketing.
•Demonstrated experience with digital storefronts, digital marketing and related activity.
•Demonstrated project management skills.
•Strong analytical skills.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•High sense of urgency and an entrepreneurial spirit combined with a disciplined analytical approach based upon facts and data.
•Ability to deliver high quality analytical insights in a business environment. Must be able to handle multiple projects.
•Experience with various types and sources of data.
•Proven record in problem-solving and business innovation.
•Ability to work independently.
•Position to be New York based.
•Experience working with CDS a plus.
