Your tasks
DK Publishing seeks a production manager to manage, lead and motivate a new team of three. Manager responsibilities will include:

_Production from initial concept through to final delivery and invoicing, ensuring we produce cost-effective, commercial product.
_Point person for Creative teams (especially Prima, Alpha and Brady), redirecting queries within the global Operations team as necessary.
_Hands on responsibility for one list of approximately 40-50 titles per year, with support from Senior Producer.
_Overseeing production (including product development, pricing and printer placement) on three other lists.
_Ensure B3/SAP is kept up-to-date.
_Book plus product sourcing, creative brainstorming, and safety testing according to business policy where needed.
_Ensure color management strategy is adhered to and that quality control checks are carried out, recorded and monitored.
_Ensure that your team follow a clear negotiation strategy when obtaining pricing from our suppliers _ benchmarking and comparing costs to get the best commercial deal for the business. Savings should be sought and logged wherever possible.
_Stakeholder management with particular focus on Creative Managers/Publishers, Sales Managers/market contacts (including trade, special sales and digital areas) and colleagues within the global Operations team.
_US supplier management.
_Some merger and integration work.
_Input into projects as required.
_Support the wider management team in ensuring the structure and workflow of the department is efficient and reviewed as necessary.
_Ensure that your team provides dispatch details promptly to enable customer billing.
_Ensure invoices are cleared for payment promptly.
_Keep Production Director appropriately informed of issues.


Our requirements
ideal candidate will possess the following:

_Ability to work independently and take responsibility whilst effectively managing upwards.
_Team and stakeholder management.
_Excellent commercial awareness.
_First class communication and interpersonal skills.
_Thorough knowledge of general production procedures (price negotiations, vendor selection, estimating, purchasing and delivery).
_Experience of litho and digital printing.
_Experience working with book plus/ novelty product desirable.
_Ability to multi task and prioritise.
_Ability to communicate and work with suppliers.
_Attention to detail.
_On site press passes and some international travel will be required.
_Proficiency with Microsoft office required, SAP knowledge a plus.
