Senior-level position that will strategize, monitor, and manage the operations of all Time Home Entertainment editorial departments that produce books under such brands as TIME, LIFE and FORTUNE, sharing in overall editorial management with the Editorial Director, Art Director, Senior Editors and collaborating strategically with Production Department.

- Coordinate among book editors, project managers, designers and reporters as well as the freelancers who work on THEI books, including trade, bookazines and e-books.
- Act as direct reporting manager for assistant managing editor and copy chief as well as editorial-related freelancers such as photo editors, fact-checkers and interns (indirect management).
- Create, track, and manage multi-seasonal editorial schedules, deadlines, and editorial workflow processes to ensure that books ship on time, workload is evenly and reasonably distributed among staff, and staff work efficiently and effectively for maximum quality, accuracy, and time and cost management.
- Track cover-creation process, from early creative discussions to final approval.
- Define and manage copy-flow processes and accuracy of THEI publications.
- Manage and track the book-proposal process, from drafting to final approval.
- Create and manage THEI book budgets and i-temp budgets, engaging with Finance and Production as well as Art Director, Senior Editors and Marketing Director as needed.
- Manages and tracks bookazine idea development, testing and scheduling.
- Oversee department contracts, collaborating with other managers to ensure that contracts clarify and maximize job responsibility and that contracts are accurate and timely.
- Plan, coordinate invitations to, develop agenda for, participate in, and recap departmental pub planning (proposals and launches), catalog generation, and design meetings.
- Works with editorial director and senior editors in identifying material needing review by Time Inc. legal department.

- Review and approve THEI catalogs and other marketing material, and all book covers, jackets, and copyright pages.
- Help staff identify and implement new technology and workflow processes as needed; represent THEI on corporate technology committees and oversee editorial IT and archive needs. Annually benchmark processes against other similar book publishers.
- Collaborate on color and printing matters as needed.
- Coordinate content exchanges and approvals with other Time Inc. titles.
- Coordinate with THEI brands such as Time, Fortune, People, Sports Illustrated, Entertainment Weekly, Real Simple and others to efficiently manage editorial workflow through Edit, Photo, Design, Copy, and Production as needed.
- Other duties as needed.

- A BS or higher in journalism, communications or related field and at least five years of managerial publishing experience is required.
- Copyediting, Macintosh and InDesign proficiency is required.
- Must possess strong initiative, strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and management skills, and be a team player.
