Reporting to the Director of Custom Research and the VP, Executive Director of Research, the Custom Research Analyst must have the mix of abilities and credentials described below.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Detail-oriented - Able to work independently - Able to meet multiple deadlines - Expertise with current versions of MS Word, MS Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel is essential
- Comfort working with data
- Comfort doing online information searches on a variety of topics - Comfort working in a fast-paced environment

The Custom Research Analyst will assist the custom research team by:

- Checking data tabulations for accuracy
- Posting survey findings on a questionnaire
- Helping to build and quality check PowerPoint presentations
- Communicating with research vendors

Additionally, the Custom Research Analyst will be responsible for:

- Maintaining and updating Hearst’s corporate research intranet, InSite.
- Processing and maintaining a log of all research department invoices
- Ordering supplies as needed
- Assisting the Director of Custom Research and the VP, Executive Director of Research with administrative duties (e.g. filing expense reports, organizing meetings, etc.) as needed

A 4-year college degree is required.

A formal custom/other research background is preferred as are marketing/business expertise.

A cover letter, salary requirements, three professional references and two writing samples are required. Appropriate writing samples include any two of the following: - A PowerPoint deck or other type of report - A business memo/email - A business memo/email detailing a specific project objectives, budget, timeline, etc. Please note: When providing writing samples please feel free to “sanitize” any identifying names, data, etc.
