WHYY is seeking candidates for the long-term temporary, full-time position of Associate Web Producer, NewsWorks. This position is responsible creating, formatting and managing the visual content for NewsWorks.org, WHYY's website for local and hyper-local news and voices. Major duties of the position include managing the graphical and visual elements of the website; accompanying reporters in the field to capture images or assigning other photographers to do so; managing the ingestion of digital files and day-to-day content updates for NewsWorks.org; customizing web content with web-only features; producing and maintaining the NewsWorks homepage and other sections as necessary; identifying automation opportunities as well as system/process defects and working with the development team to resolve identified issues in a timely manner. Candidates should have at least two years of professional digital photography, multimedia journalism, or web productions experience, and must have experience assigning, taking, and selecting photographs for web publication, as well as maintaining online content across multiple platforms including websites, newsletters, social media and mobile platforms. The ideal candidate will be able to present an extensive portfolio of web-only photography and will have experience working at a news and information website. Strong writing skills are essential in order to compose captions and headlines. This position requires the ability to quickly master new software and production tools. Candidates must have proficient knowledge in basic software skills (standard HTML editors, Photoshop, and Final Cut Pro), coding (compliance with HTML and CSS, DHTML, JavaScript, and various management systems), and experience with a web content management system. Experience shooting and editing video for web is preferred. All candidates must have the ability explain highly technical matters to non-technically minded coworkers, and must have the temperament to work in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment.
