Chief Marketing Officer

As the Chief Marketing Officer, you will be responsible for creating innovative marketing strategies that will build our brand, leading to increased awareness, participation, fundraising revenue, relevance, and respect among our target audience. ResponsibilitiesCommunications Strategy, Vision, and Leadership•Develop and implement an integrated strategic communications plan to advance the JCC's brand identity; broaden awareness of its programs and priorities; increase the visibility of its programs across key stakeholder audiences; support the development department in its fundraising goals.•Understand how to “drive the constituents and the constituent experience” through multiple touch points including the web, e-mail, social media, print collateral, as well as internal communications. •Create a marketing/public relations strategy that will allow the JCC’s leadership to cultivate and enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences including prospective donors, the media, and key influencers.•Identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization. Work with leadership team and staff to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions, and define and execute appropriate strategies to support them.•Serve as communications counselor to the JCC’s leadership.Communications Operations•Oversee development of all JCC digital and print communications including the JCC's website and new media.•Pioneer and implement measurable strategies that will drive hard revenue goals.•Oversee the day-to-day activities of the communications function including budgeting, planning, and staff development.•Exercise judgment to prioritize media opportunities•Manage press relationships to ensure coverage surrounding JCC programs, special events, public announcements, and other projects.Team Development/Management•Recruit and manage a communications team to support the development and execution of the communications strategy.•Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.•Mentor and develop staff using a supportive and collaborative approach on a consistent basis.•Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments.Qualifications•Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s Degree with a specialization in Marketing preferred.•10 years of well-rounded marketing/business development experience in positions of increasing responsibility, with a focus on institutional awareness, program participation, and identifying emerging market trends.•3-5 years of leadership experience with the ability to motivate and provide professional development to a team of direct reports. •A hands-on collaborative style of working is a must! •Experience building brand awareness and support internally. •Thorough knowledge of marketing principles, brand, product, and service management; sales and business development; along with a demonstrated track record of success and performance. •Ability to understand changing market dynamics, translating them into actionable strategies to achieve the organization’s objectives. •Advanced experience working with a variety of traditional and modern marketing and communications functions, including branding and messaging to different target audiences.•An understanding of all aspects of print material production; development and implementation of social media plans; and working with the press and other related media outlets.
