Position Summary: This position is responsible for the execution of all creative on-air promotions, public service announcements, station-produced commercials and station event promos for KAAL television station ensuring that they fit the station’s goals and deadlines. Provides the day-to-day supervision and workflow of the departmental producers.

Essential Job Functions
1.Supervisors all aspects of on-air promotions, public service announcements, station-produced commercials and event promos for KAAL-TV from conception to completion. This includes creative development, assignment to producers, delegating tasks, editing, tracking progress and ensuring completion of promos/commercials by established deadlines. Makes financial decisions for certain budget items. Works closely and collaboratively with News, Sales, Outreach Marketing and Production Departments to ensure projects are completed on time, in budget and meeting goals.
2.Conducts planning meetings to review work and deadlines and plan for future work.
3.(Maintains an accurate list of all on-air promo inventory. Schedules promos on daily log.)
4.Supervises the day-today work of the Creative Services producers. Assigns tasks to complete. Monitors progress.
5.Collaboratively and creatively work with sales and production on identifying, generating and creating station commercial and promotional campaigns tied to sales. Serve as liaison with Sales Department. Attend sales calls with Account Managers. Assist with presentations and communicating creative promotional solutions.
6.Independently creates on-air news and programming promotions by concepting, producing, shooting, writing and editing of assigned projects. Most often, promotional projects are complex, higher profile and quality; and longer running. Commercial projects may be more immediate and one-time. Types of promotion projects include but are not limited to proof of brand and tune-in spots, promotables, station brand, topicals, and other strategic promotions for KAAL-TV. Maintains the editorial “style” and “brand” of the station. Types of commercial projects include but are not limited to basic price/item, event or branding. Meets all deadlines and communicates effectively with all involved with the projects.
7.Manages on-air projects for station-sponsored events. Collaborates with the Outreach Marketing Manager and sales on events. Creates plans, establishes deadlines and assigns work to producers. Ensures projects are completed in a timely manner. Communicates essential event information to appropriate co-workers.
8.Understands, can articulate and train others in the stations’ creative services direction and philosophy.
9.Works closely with the General Manager in the development and execution of the department’s strategic plan. Ensures subordinates execute plan on a daily basis.
10.Human Resource Management with General Manager:
•Develop strong staff through applicable training, evaluation and daily contact.
•Recruits, interviews and selects new employees with input from others as needed.
•Direct day-to-day supervision of departmental staff. Teach and train staff. Assists with necessary performance reviews in a timely manner following corporate guidelines. Critiques and provides feedback to each employee on performance on a regular basis. Guides employees on a daily basis. Addresses performance issues as needed.
•Consults with Business Manager, General Manager and or Corporate Human Resources on disciplinary issues and termination decisions when needed.
•Develops, writes and updates department job descriptions as needed.
11.Works cooperatively and collaboratively with other station departments in a team environment to ensure that station objectives are attained.
12.Identifies, analyzes, and trouble shoots problems or issues in the promotions department. Provides viable solutions and notifies appropriate individuals.
13.Reports to work on time for regularly schedule shifts; may work evenings, early mornings and weekends as required.

Physical Requirements
Lifts up to 50 lbs occasionally (camera equipment). Sit or stand for extended periods of time, in a confined area. Ability to communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Ability to hear clearly. Dexterity to manipulate computer keys and other controls in studio as well as other equipment. Able to drive own vehicle for the purpose of meeting clients and attending events. Requires the ability to think critically, tactically and creatively as well as be able to articulate information in clear, concise manner to others. Must be able to think quickly. Ability to work effectively in pressure situations. Can work in extreme outdoor weather conditions.

Working Environment
Works in professional, collaborative team environment with a number of members. Works under pressure and in stressful situations while meeting deadlines. Often works in confined studio/editing space as well as on locations in and out of doors.

-BA in journalism, production, marketing, promotions, or broadcast related degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
-2-4 years of experience working in television production and or promotions. Graphic design experience preferred. Experience should include shooting (studio and field cameras), editing (linear and non-linear-Adobe & Premier systems), producing and directing as well as planning and executing public service announcements. Experience with Ross Xpression graphics system a plus.
-Previous supervisory experience including directing workflow, motivating and training staff highly preferred.
-Highly developed and proven planning, organization and communication skills. Excellent listener with the ability to assimilate opinions into final product.
-Experience working as a team member.
-Graphic design experience preferred.
-Must be highly creative. Proven ability to create and lead a project from start to finish and lead a group through the process
-Ability to work on short deadlines and in pressure situations.
-Previous financial responsibilities preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record as determined by the Company.
