General Description

•Manage studio operations, facilities, customer service, grip & lighting and locations departments
•Responsible for the success of Smashbox Studios grip and lighting business including the sales and rentals of equipment, photo location EQ & production supplies
•Re-launch currently closed studios to a fully operational and successful locations business - target date is Mid-Fall 2014.
•Elevate and uphold the Smashbox Studios brand, industry position and culture as the top fashion/commercial studio in LA

Core Responsibilities

•Team leadership including defining vision, goals, reviews and empowering and driving performance
•An expert in Photo and Film equipment including Grip & Lighting who can plan, estimate and trouble shoot with top grips & gaffers
•Must have a large network of photographers, directors, producers, production managers, production coordinators, DP’s, grips, gaffers, & photo assistants.
•Recruit and hire initial studio crew of approx. 10
•Negotiate the hiring and recruitment of employees on an ongoing basis
•Lead and manage staff with focus on daily oversight of management team including, locations manager, studio managers, drivers, baristas, receptionists, & bookkeeper.
•Work with internal ICB team and resources to run Smashbox studios administration (incl. Accounting, HR, IT, Marketing). Work with ICB CFO & Controller to provide financial management including cash flow, sales forecasting, budget and P&L management, AR, collections and AP.
•Interface with Smashbox Cosmetics partner as applicable
•Vendor and resource management and coordination of all in-house departments and outside vendors (equipment rental, digital services, location services, and or any special requests) with all clients to ensure the delivery of the highest level of service.
•Facility maintenance oversight and uphold pristine environment inside and outside the studios at all times
•Oversee studio security and drive safety message throughout the Studio
•Oversee facility maintenance and vehicle maintenance, repairs and or upgrades, furniture and fixture purchases and repairs, security system, stereo systems, pest control and all building related matters
•Maintaining par levels of supplies stocked in-house (ex. paint, wood, metal, hardware supplies, tools, etc.)
•Responsible for equipment & related software purchases and upgrades
•Maintain par levels for all expendables (ex. seamless paper, batteries, paint, foam core, etc.)

Experience Required

•At least 3 years experience in similar role
•Proven managerial and recruiting experience
•Extensive photo and video equipment knowledge a MUST
•Knowledge of digital, film, video cameras, lighting and computer equipment
•Ability to quickly learn and adopt modern processes
•Experience working in a fast-pace environment
•Physical condition necessary for studio grip room operations
•Excellent working knowledge of the photography & commercial film industry and key players
•Understanding of high-end customer service requirements
•Ability to prioritize and effective time-management skills
•Excellent communication skills
•An enthusiastic and committed attitude and dedication to excellence
•Attention to detail, self starter, and team player
