Front End Developer

The International Fellowship of Christians & Jews has an exciting opportunity available for a skilled, resourceful and motivated individual who would like to make a difference in the lives of others in helping a non-for-profit humanitarian organization fulfill its mission. We are presently in search of a Front End Developer at our corporate headquarters in Chicago.

The Front End Developer will develop and manage day-to-day content of all Fellowship websites. Technically, this individual will develop and maintain web applications and make recommendations for refinement and improvements of the sites. Creatively, you will design and create the media elements that enhance usability and functionality of the sites. In addition, this role is responsible for designing, building and sending all email marketing efforts.

Key responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
•Maintaining and adding new content to The Fellowship’s websites, ensuring accuracy of website content and email campaigns.
•Building a framework on our websites to support a changing set of utilities and tools (social networking, video, podcasts, blogs, etc.) in order to bring a robust user experience to our visitors.
•Researching and staying abreast of new technologies and best practices in online donor programs, web design, and usability standards, through industry publications, conferences, and seminars.
•Utilizing an organizational style guide to create graphic elements, templates and style sheets for web pages and emails.

The ideal candidate will possess:
•Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Computer Science, Communications, Web Design or similar discipline), or equivalent experience.
•Minimum of 3 years’ experience in designing corporate websites.
•Minimum of 3 years’ experience with a web CMS platform. Demonstrated experience with Convio strongly desired.
•Advanced level proficiency in design development tools (i.e., Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, or similar interactive tools).
•Fluent in Javascript (or Flash ActionScript), HTML and CSS.
•Strong knowledge of email and web best practices.
•Experience using content management tools.
•Intermediate-level proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
•Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•Strong attention to detail; strong problem solving skills.
•Strong interpersonal and analytical skills needed to define user application requirements and interact with team members to evaluate technology applications.
•Self-starter with the ability to work independently with little direction.
