Responsibilities: The Communications Director will drive the overall press strategy as well as media relations for NBC News' DC bureau including "Meet the Press" and DC-based correspondents, as well as work closely with the NBC News PR team on breaking news, special reports & digital initiatives. The candidate will work to secure multi-platform promotional opportunities in an effort to generate maximum, positive publicity for the network's programming and talent. The candidate will lead projects including writing releases, pitching stories, generating briefing notes, clip reports and Q&As. The candidate will also act as a spokesperson on behalf of relevant programs and talent.

  • Act as media strategist and spokesperson for DC-based talent and programs, as well as news content and digital initiatives
  • Foster strong contacts with print, digital, and trade media
  • Pitch ideas and create promotional opportunities for talent and programs
  • Possess a strong understanding of and experience with social media
  • Coordinate media interviews, photo shoots and publicity opportunities
  • Generate press materials, including press releases, boilerplates, bios, talking points, tweets, and pitch letters
  • Work closely with executives, producers, NBC Standards and legal on approval of written materials
  • Coordinate closely with the NBC News PR team to present the network and its programming in the most favorable light
  • Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Minimum 5 years relevant media relations and communications experience
  • Willingness to travel and work after hours and on weekends
  • Should have a passion for news
  • Experience in talent relations
  • Knowledge of Nielsen Media Research
  • Bachelor's degree
