This key editorial position will develop, enhance, and execute editorial graphics and content for data driven journalism for GOOD Magazine, website, and related media—all central platforms for this multimedia lifestyle brand for the global citizen and creative change-maker. GOOD Magazine consists of a quarterly, print publication and a website that publishes feature and blog content in the form of news, commentary, photography, video, design, and the best new writing and visual storytelling.

Responsibilities:

- The Infographics & Data Visualization Editor will be responsible for the ideation, design, and creation of infographics and data visualization projects across media platforms. Each project will be innovative and present an opportunity to visually communicate ideas and content sourced from a data-driven, journalistic sensibility. Projects will enhance or illustrate content, as well as be content.

- The Infographics & Data Visualization Editor will be a key member of the GOOD Editorial team, attending weekly editorial meetings, present story ideas, and identify best opportunities to use visualizations to accompany or seed editorial content.

- The Infographics & Data Visualization Editor will work with junior staff, bloggers, and freelancers on data-driven stories to ensure high quality, factual, and innovative work. The Information Editor will also work with the Artistic Director to recruit and direct freelancers working on data-driven content.

- The Infographics & Data Visualization will be responsible for directing best research practices for visual and editorial content across all platforms and will work with the Managing Editor to ensure the standards are being maintained.

- The Infographics & Data Visualizationr will work with the Special Projects Editor to develop partnership content and guide its realization, this includes collaborating with the Special Projects Editor to generate GOOD content and research ventures that partners can sponsor.

- The Infographics & Data Visualization reports to GOOD’s Managing Editor.

Qualifications:

- This is a senior position, candidates should have three to five years work experience overseeing infographics, data visualization, and data-driven journalism

- The ideal candidate should have an robust portfolio of graphic approaches to information journalism, as well as a first rate record of managing data driven (sourced or ancillary) content. The presented work should be innovative, factual, and clear.

- The Infographics & Data Visualization Editor should have experience identifying and managing freelance designers and data researchers.

- Must love new ideas, good storytelling, thinking outside the box, working across platforms, and collaborating.

- The Infographics & Data Visualization Editor will be joining GOOD in a transitional period, and should be interested in helping to craft a strong new sensibility for the brand. This means a solid awareness of what is going on in the industry, the boldness to forge new directions, and the wherewithal to keep the product directed and innovative.

- A demonstrated ability to work with big datasets is a plus — including the experience to analyze data in programs such as Python, R or Matlab.
